Follow me as I navigate through my styling gigs and design projects. Everything fashion related! I have a whirlwind of thoughts when it comes to fashion. For me it's all about the process, which is why I have a love for design and visuals. There are endless possibilities when it comes to creating a functionable piece of out a sliver of fabric and then from production to market

I definitely gained most of my skills through experiences of trial and error throughout the years. There's been many stressful moments where I didn't know what to do in a situation and I had to scramble to figure it out on my own (luckily with technology you can google a lot of your problems away... well for the most part). And while you can never predict what kind of difficulties you'll run into,

you can prepare for the worse and hopefully have a better outcome.

Fashion Styling, Design & Visual Merchandising

I started my career in visual merchandising and then branched out to styling and design. Currently I do all three- part time visual merchandiser, freelance styling in editorial photoshoots and runways and designing accessories and clothing on my personal time, which sounds like a lot but somehow I've made it work.

When people think of fashion they tend to only see the glamourous outcome. Generally people don't get to see the stress and work that goes into the making of all the glamour and glitz- which is unfortunate since there is so much beauty in the process. Well I thought I'd share some of that since I've been filming my designs more lately anyway, so why not fully document my experiences and get in depth with my thought process, mistakes, fails and successes of it all?

Ready for fashion adventures?

Not only am I going to rant and ramble about textiles, designer collections, and my opinions about current style trends but I plan to share the process of how I develop my new clothing designs that I have coming soon, and come with me backstage and behind the scenes on my styling gigs! I'll show you the process of how I make my scrunchies and purses that I sell on my etsy and online store which you can purchase here:

Stay tuned for my unpredictable fashion adventures ~

The first month of the year is done already! Last year was wild, so let's stay devoted to our goals for 2021 & continuously work towards the growth we wish to see within ourselves.

Before we throw ourselves into our work and career goals, I think it's extremely important to look inward. This past year has been draining to say the least- so hopefully we're all taking time for ourselves to practice self-care.

Self-care can come in many forms and it's not just a one time thing- it's continuous acts of consciousness to make sure that your wellbeing is prioritized. I can't stress how important this is, as I saw so much growth in myself and my focus once I started truly taking care of myself- my body and my mind.

For me, self-care means all of the above. I took little steps to begin with at first and started giving myself an ultimate spa day at the end of each week and girrrrl lemme tell you- I go all out on my spa days now; that's on nail care, hair care & body care - baths, hair masks, face masks, exfoliants, serums with the jade roller, lotion, moisturizer, eye cream - yes the whole shebang! All this so I can physically feel good! Ahh the feeling of being sparkly soft and squeaky clean! haha (it helps).

Another big thing is self-reflection. Looking back on past memories and thoughts that still trigger us- things or people that you keep thinking about; and reflecting on it- why does this really bother me? What about this situation effects me today? Even though some chapters in our lives are physically gone, we tend to hold on- and then we end up projecting certain traumas into our everyday lives. It's necessary to take time to reflect on situations and understand why we still feel the way we do, and if anything can be done about it today. It could be things from childhood or from recent relationships. If there's nothing that we can do to change situations of the past- maybe it's time to let go. We may look back and realize that there are certain patterns or behaviors that need correcting. If we become aware of our behavior going forward, we have the chance of actively correcting poor decision making that can come from it. It's important to be conscious of our behavior so that we don't hurt others around us- and even more importantly so we don't hurt ourselves in the process. That would be shitty. We do not want that.

Also, let's start setting boundaries. Say no to the things that cross your boundaries. It's ok to be more vocal especially when things directly effect your wellbeing! I've always had a hard time saying no to people growing up, and I carried that into adulthood until recently. It's not good to be too nice. You get taken advantage of and regret it afterwards. I've learned to push myself to speak up more often- whether it be at work or with friends- don't take no shit! And let it be known so they don't TRY you :) It may be hard to begin with if you're not use to it- but you have to look out for yourself. I have to mention that since I've started being more vocal, I feel more respected by the people around me.

Saying no doesn't involve any animosity. It's not- "f*ck you & f*ck no!" It's simply expressing yourself, and there are ways to do it effectively without receiving a negative response.

So really try to take care of yourself while taking care of your business. Continue the growth within, and it will show through in your persona and your work!

Bike shorts , biker shorts, cycle shorts, cycling shorts - whatever you wanna call it, THEY'RE BACK!

To most people, bike shorts may indeed look like just a recent trend, but there's a lot more to it than that. Bike shorts were big last summer of 2019, and previously in the 90's Karl Lagerfield put them on the runway and was said to be the reason for the return of the trend at the time, and then before that it was part of the 80's spandex trend.

The original purpose of this now stylish garment was for ease of movement and exercise. It was created in the late 1970's specifically for cyclists- as per the name. A mix of spandex & elastane & cotton, bike shorts were made to provide comfort to cyclists during long durations of cycling.

Today, bike shorts are not just limited to cyclists or gym goers anymore. They've become a cute staple in many fashionista's closets and they're now styled into everyday wardrobe and worn in both classy and casual settings. Catch a gal at home lounging in these comfy shorts and an oversized t-shirt, or with a hoodie thrown over top for a quick grocery run, and then later in the evening out with her girlfriends in those same (or diff) pair of bike shorts, a crop top, structured blazer and a pair of pointed toe booties- that's a look.

What I like about this specific garment is the versatility of it. There's a wide range of who and how- Who's wearing it? How are they wearing it? Bike shorts are becoming a staple for the athlete to the tomboy and to the stylish trend-setter alike. The possibilities and looks are endless when it comes to this otherwise very simple and straight-forward piece.

Celeb Style Influence, Present - Past

Love 'em or hate 'em, the biggest fashion influencers of today AKA the Kardashians have been embracing the style trend into their everyday wardrobe for a while now, so you know it's sticking around for a bit longer. Here, Kim K's hair, makeup and thigh high boots pull the outfit towards a semi casual, semi dressy direction here.

Here she goes with a sporty look, pairing the cycle shorts with sneakers and a cropped puffer jacket.

Kourtney in true NY fashion (I presume that's New York because context clues) with her mini shades, mini LV bag, stiletto mules, and that denim peplum jacket with a cinched waist. The bike shorts are the only basic piece in this look full of statements, and acts as a nice touch to balance it all and keeps the outfit from looking overwhelming.

More celeb style inspo for ya-

Hailey Baldwin here looking rich casual in her vintage style Vogue Paris photoshoot, in which she credits drawing inspiration from Princess Diana. She's wears relaxed casual pieces like the sweatshirt and athletic socks and sneakers, but keeps it looking luxe with accessories like the gold Chanel earrings, black leather bag with gold accents, designer shades, and of course that shiny rock on her finger.

Naomi Campbell seen on the red carpet for Virgil Abloh's Off White Spring 2018 collection. Virgil also credits Princess Diana as the muse for this collection, mixing pieces like structured blazers and shorts that she herself would have worn.

These are some photos of Princess Diana that inspired Hailey's photoshoot and Virgil Abloh's Off- White collection. Turns out that she really did use this as her go-to gym look. Princess Diana has always been known for being a laid back and relatable royal, and although this look is a very easy and normal look- sweatshirt, shorts, white socks and sneakers- it did inspire followers of high fashion and industry headliners alike.

Looks on the runway, Chanel Spring 1991 collection. You know Chanel has always had influential power when it comes to fashion.

So personally, I like the look of bike shorts. It intrigues me how fashionable they've become over time when the original purpose was far from a fashion statement. How do you feel about bike shorts? And how would you wear them?
